The school community was absolutely thrilled that today we were able to raise a flag, designed by one of our students, Elizabeth Butler. Elizabeth entered a competition held by ERST for to design an appropriate flag which would be flown on ERST schools – which now nearly total 100 in the Republic of Ireland.
Mr Pat Keating, representing ERST, traveled from Dublin to be with us for our ceremony. The day began with a prayer service for to mark the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice and it was fitting and providential that it was on this day that our students gathered outside of the building to raise a flag, designed by one of their own, that declared that in an Edmund Rice school, students feel safe, happy, respected and welcome. In the afternoon, Principal Ms Flynn took possession of the keys of the school and Monday awaits the arrival of our current students into their new school building.
