Starting secondary school can be a challenge for students and their parents. Our aim is to make the transition to secondary school as easy and seamless as possible. We have put together a short guide which you can download and there are also other resources which may be useful, especially if it is your first time having a child in secondary education.
The National Parents Council Post-Primary (NPCPP) is an organisation which supports the involvement of parents in the education of their own children. They have a very useful website with a number of useful resources. You can access their website by clicking here.
The NPCPP produced a booklet to assist parents and students, but parents should note that some of the information is out of date, especially in the area of Junior Cert as this is currently undergoing change. The booklet can be accessed by clicking on the following; Introducing Your Second Level School
Our school recently held an information night on the new Junior Cycle. You can access a copy of the presentation given below.
Schooldays.ie is another website which has useful resources, in a whole range of areas, to assist parents and students.
The Department of Education and Skills has also produced A Guide to the Irish Education System, which may be of use, especially to those who are not familiar with the education system in Ireland.
