Starting secondary school can be a challenge for students and their parents. Our aim in Edmund Rice College is to make the transition to secondary school as easy and seamless as possible.  Below are some resources which you might find helpful in making the move from primary to secondary school. The most important thing in ERC is to ask if you are unsure of anything. There are lots of teachers and staff to help you, so no matter how small you might think something is, if you are worried or unsure about something then please ask or talk to one of the adults in the school – we are here to help you!

The National Parents Council Post-Primary (NPCPP) is an organisation which supports the involvement of parents in the education of their own children. They have a very useful website with a number of useful resources. You can access their website by clicking here.

Schooldays.ie is another website which has useful resources, in a whole range of areas, to assist parents and students.

The Department of Education and Skills has also produced A Guide to the Irish Education System, which may be of use, especially to those who are not familiar with the education system in Ireland.
