In 2019/20 our TYs took part in a number of activities.

In September they went to Ballyhass Lakes. This was a wonderful bonding trip at the beginning of the year. Our students participated in lots of different activities from ziplining, raft building, axe throwing, archery, kayaking, rock climbing, the leap of faith and the ultimate inflatable aqua park. Students slept over in nearby accommodation and participated in group activities at night time. Exhausted from the fun, they returned home on the Friday.

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge they took part in bodhran making. They made their bodhran’s from scratch. Many students chose to put their family crest on their bodhran while others chose more creative designs.

Our TYs took part in Develop Me workshops. The workshops involved them breaking into small groups to build small parts of a bridge. The different parts of the bridge then had to be joined together to create the full bridge and towers. It was an excellent exercise in the importance of teamwork.

Our TY Home Economics students worked on tie dye projects for a few weeks. Their brief involved upcycling any old white, cotton garment. They learned about the different tie dye techniques before beginning to plan their design. Once the tie dye element was completed, they then worked on embellishing their projects with different stitches and buttons. The results were incredible.
